Happy Lunar New Year

Today is the first day of the Lunar calendar. Vietnamese call it tet. It used to be much more fun when I was younger and I got to stuff my face with all sorts of sweets and savory rice cakes. The best part of the holiday was the little red envelopes with cash that adults would give to children. I haven't received a red envelope for several years now, but I got something much better in the mail yesterday. N from Taipei sent me a lovely card accompanied by a calendar and chopsticks. I guess she expects me to eat a lot this year and thought I could use a couple extra pairs. I think the year of the rat is going to be a good one for me. :) Happy New Year!
